| Home | Equipment One of the important things when going backcountry camping is selecting the right equipment. While you can pick up camping gear at most department stores its always better to go to one of the specialized stores. The prices will be higher but they also provide a quality that can't be matched. The specialized stores also have a staff that will have a good knowledge of what you need and be able to help you whereas the department stores won't. If you plan to rent your gear then I would advise doing so on site at Killarney Outfitters. They have good quality gear for rental thats been well maintained. It also means you don't have to worry about packing it in your car and transporting it there. This would probably be a good option for beginners as it will let you focus more on the experience. If you are a serious camper or you would like to get into camping a lot more then renting your gear is going to be a waste of money. At this point it would be better to buy your gear. The best store for doing that is Mountain Equipment Co-op. Its $5 for a lifetime membership, and they have everything you could every need for the purpose of backcountry camping. They have stores all across Ontario and they are a very environmentally friendly company. Continue to Seasonal Camping |
