Home | Getting Started Things you need to know to go backcountry camping. If you plan to go backcountry camping it is essential that you have some experience tent camping as it is very similar. The main difference is you have to pack everything your taking and actualy carry it where you need to go since there is no going back to the car to get stuff you forgot. For gear you should bring your tent, a propane stove (unless you intend to cook on the fire), a tarp, food pack as well as a smaller day pack for any trips you go on during the day, a lantern, first aid kit and a flashlight. A lot of people come for the peace and quiet, so always try and be considerate by not making too much noise (don't party this isn't the type of campground for that).
